By undertaking the tree root survey with non-destructive survey method by GPR, the spread of the root can be determined and gain more understanding on the tree health condition.

By using Ground penetrating Radar (GPR), root system is scanned beneath either soft or hard surface under field condition in a comparably short time. As tree root is radially disturbed from tree trunk, circular survey around tree is undertaken to attain a perpendicular angle between tree roots and GPR survey lines. The spatial distribution of tree roots is depicted effectively by avoiding distorted hyperbolas.

Depth of roots are also analysed by the travel time of reflections. Therefore, the root can be detected according to the reflection intensity, continuity and depth. The distribution of tree roots can be mapped on both two-dimensional (B-scan) and three-dimensional environment (C-scan in different depth).

To survey the tree crown and tree trunk, laser scanning survey is carried out to scan and create the point cloud record for existing slope condition and trees.

To study the tree movement, recording the the existing tree condition in case any natural hazards/ human activities happen. Make a geo-referencing comparison and high-accuracy measurement for the affected trees.
